"Un-disciplinary" - Creative Technologies Exhibition

"Alone, in our separate kinds of expertise and experience, we know both too much and too little, and so we succumb to despair or to hope, and neither is a sensible attitude." — Donna Haraway.

In the spirit of Haraway's insight, our team consisting of me, Jekaterina Belakova (UK), João Cardoso (BR), and Lana Martires (BR) - collaborated over five months to develop an experiential installation for the Un-disciplinary symposium and art exhibition at Aalborg University. Presented at Kunsthal NORD from May 2nd to 4th, 2023, this event sought to create a space where art, technology, science, and sustainability converge, fostering discussions that transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries.

Our installation was featured during the Leonardo Laser Talks, a segment of the symposium that included six internationally acclaimed researchers and artists. By integrating interactive technologies, visual storytelling, and soundscapes, we invited participants to engage in listening and rewriting, prompting a reevaluation of how media art practices intersect across various fields.

This project was integral to the conference's overarching theme, examining how technology and media art can challenge conventional boundaries and promote new forms of cultural expression, perception, and understanding in our increasingly digital world. Through a transdisciplinary approach, our installation contributed to ongoing dialogues about the role of media art in shaping sustainable futures.
