Youth Engagement Toolkit for Responsible Data Reuse
A Visual Guide Empowering the Next Generation
In collaboration with The Data Tank and NextGenData, this infographic was designed as an engaging, accessible toolkit to guide young people through responsible data reuse processes. The Youth Engagement Toolkit breaks down complex data governance concepts into clear, actionable steps, empowering youth to make informed decisions and actively participate in shaping data-driven services.
Design Approach
The design centers on clarity, structure, and engagement.
Five distinct steps are presented in a logical sequence, each marked clearly with bold numbering and directional arrows that guide the viewer through the process:
Scope & Explore
Operationalise and Plan
Deliberate and Prioritise
Engage and Design
Showcase and Collaborate

Visual Hierarchy
The design uses a balanced combination of text, icons, and illustrations to support comprehension. Headings and subheadings are in bold, while checklists offer actionable points, making it easier to absorb information at a glance.

Central Framework
At the heart of the infographic lies the Responsible Data Reuse Framework—a circular diagram visually answering key questions: Where, Why, When, Who, and How data is reused. This focal point anchors the design and reinforces the key principles of the toolkit.

Color Palette and Typography
The use of a vivid blue background paired with high-contrast white panels ensures readability, while the bright green arrows and accents add dynamism and guide the eye through the content. The typography is clean and modern, maintaining legibility at various scales.
